Hi guys,

I thought some of you might me interested in the development path of CNBYA, and if there is any anyway Smile

We are glad to inform you that our development has improved many of the current functions and added a lot of new functionality to the module.

In the coming weeks we will ship CNBYA 500 alpha 1 to a selected team of testers. If the first bugs are sorted out we will release CNBYA 500 beta 1 to the public.

CNBYA 500 will have the folowing features, and many more:

    * Fixed a lot of bugs, restructured many files
    * SMTP mail support (as well as qmail, sendmail and phpmail)
    * MIME html/plaintext mail handling
    * automatic timezone detection
    * easier configurable dateformat
    * a revolutionary security code configuration panel
    * A whole new internal security system (URL Guardian)
    * User webpages support
    * easy user management (improved admin gui)
    * All user fields can be configured to be required, optional or absent during the registration process
    * Terms of Service are editable (stored in the database)
    * CNBYA has it's own Avatar upload functions (upload into database)
    * Improved userinfo pages (our goal is to make them preferable over the forum ones)
    * DNS domain verification applied to the email at registration
    * Highly improved password-lost functions (internal and gui)
    * Added option to re-request required fields at login (nuke fields and extra fields)
    * Added gender and birthday fields (optional)
    * Fake email field, realname and user benifits can be disabled
    * Added optional PM on registration
    * Added an admin debug panel for bugtracking purposes
    * Improved overall theme compatiblity
    * Improved security checks on read/write to the database
    * Improved compatibility with IIS installs
    * Improved the installer (check on existing fields, wrong prefixes, etcetera)
    * Improved compatibility with older userinfo blocks
    * Made the module truly universal (6.5 to 7.6)
You see, we haven't been sleeping letting our beloved module slowly die.
In our oppinion CNBYA 500 will be a big step forward in the user management capabilities of phpnuke.

Expect the public beta in 1 1/2 month or so.
If you want to apply to become part of our team of serious beta testers,
we want to ask you to get in touch me by sending an email to [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] with the subject of 'CNBYA BETATESTING'.

Our requirements for beta testers are the folowing:

1) Experience installing PHPNuke addons.
2) Willingness to disclose O/S, Server Software and PHP version and MySQL version to us for private comparisons.
3) Time to test installs and report back to us findings with a reasonable amount of time Prior to public release dates. We will try to make this at least 10 days in advance to planned public releases.
4) We are particularly looking to recruit a few Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Windows 2003 users with experience using phpnuke under this environment.
5) Most importantly respect our privacy and not share pre release ALPHA files with anyone outside of the test group without Andre or Richards explicit permission to do so.
6) Translators are always welcome!

Any features that you would like to see (or see changed) in our next release can be posted in the topic that was specifically opened for that purpose.

We are exited to move on.
The last months have taken their toll on our personal lives more than a bit. But the result will hopefully be rewarding enough to justify that.

Thanks btw. for the participation in these forums.
Without you reporting your wishes, reporting bugs (and finding solutions), we cannot improve, develop, move on.

Cheers,
Richard

Great news looking foward to the new version myself had one question though.
I was wondering if the new version would have the karma mod that comes with 7.7 Your Account
cause I noticed CNB Your Account 750 2.2.0 doesnt have the karma included.

Hey guys,
Just a quick update for all of you.
I'm finalizing the next beta release for CNB Your Account as we speak.
I first pass it through the team of testers for some rough feedback.
It is about time this module will meet the masses.

TODO:
- security review by some external experts
- updating the translation of the module's language files.

I'm sorry for the miscommunication on my part and
the gap of silence that has caused some confusion.

I'm announcing March 1st as a hard date for the first public beta here.

Cheers,
Richard (menelaos61)

Hi Kenwgood,
As you have noticed, I'm not the best planning guy arround Smile
So thank you for reminding me of my promise.
Today I will pass the latest version (CNBYA 5.0.0 public beta 1 candidate)
firstly to our internal testteam, so that we can send it out for public testing
somewhere next week.
Hold on, it will be worth the wait...

Cheers,
Richard

I am currently using 4.4.2 and I have a feature I would really love to see added to this mod. Who's ear should I bend?

Even I am starting to get intrigued now, lets hope it's worth the wait.
I have my fingers crosses that no core DB tables will be altered.

I probably wouldn't use it but I am just getting intrigued as to what functionality they have included that is causing these delays.

Guardian, I'm surprised you don't already use it somewhere. It has had great improvements over the default user management since it was NSN YA. But the 5.0 beta I saw was even better! There were only a few minor problems, but significant enough to delay the release I guess. I'll have to go back over it to review the enhancements, but definitely look forward to the release.

Rofl, i'm head manager of the project NukeClan (http://www.nukeclan.org), and we've been around for two years now. Trust me, i know delays well (we're running on a 4 month delay already on our project Very Happy) and i can understand why the module won't be released before beeing ready..

So all there's to say to menealos is : Good luck mate!! Wink

I heard Menealos was getting married in April, so i wouldn't be surprised that we're not going to get this module 'till he's done with all his personnal things Wink
