No marriages are allowed until 5.0 is out! ROTFL

On a serious note, I am willing to pitch in with beta testing / qa testing if you need it. Wink

Shhh!! I've tracked this delicate and elusive creature for months and we need to be very quiet and still. I've learned it is easily frightened by crowds and sudden noises.

Grab some camoflague and blend into the surroundings so you don't startle the beast CNBYA 5.0 once it decides to make a move towards us.

If his wife is anything like mine (i.e..."spend time with me, you're always on the computer, dont you love me"), then that might be awhile.

Smack

Nomad, yeah, the only way I can get my "fix" is to get up at 3:30am and get an hour or two in before the fam. wakes up!

Montego: Good plan, I wish had skillz like that. My best tactic (our should I say window of oppurtunity) is to get her mother to call (or anyone that has some good gossub). Then I can silently slip away Dance-Y without being noticed. That where I usually get my quick hour in. speedtype

What would you like to know? Wink We're waiting for the word on the beta release of 5.0. We've been waiting for a long time. While we wait, I'd suggest trying the 4.4.2 version. Which specific features of 5.0 can you no live without for a while?

I'm still hoping to get the feature that will combin the user account page from Phpbb and phpnuke into only one.

Please ensure you send me the next release when it is ready.

Best regards,

Hi guys,
Actually I'm really spending quite some time in finishing up the next release to our testers. Bugfixing, securing, speeding up, etcetera.

I know i can do a little better in communicating and manage the expectations a little better, but as is said real life, my marriage, work, and some of my church-projects all take up a lot of time too.

The main reason why CNB Your Account is such a huge project is that we try to achieve multiple goals:
1) functionality - a million times better than standard phpnuke user management
2) flexibility - we like to put the admin in full control of the process
3) security - we try to maximise the quality of the design for improved security
4) speed - there was a lot of redundant code in CNBYA and a lot of double functions
5) quality - we want to code in such a way that the output is 100% W3C compliant.

The next release will be a big step into these directions.
It is worthwile to stay tuned.

Cheers,
Richard (menelaos61)

If I upgrade from phpnuke 7.8 -> 7.9 do I have to do something with CNBYA or does it not affect on the upgrade?

I dont want CNBYA crash my site just because I want to upgrade.

well i allways loved the cnbya, but i do have some minor doubts (yeah me again..lol) if the thousand extra's are realy needed.

Sometimes i asked people (who had extreme nukeversions installed) if they used everything and they said no....
So you have a nuke with 140 mods installed and you use 20 or 30% of it.

Im sure that the future user of cnbya isnt gonna use it in its fullest capacity.
Not to mention the variety of versions out there, and the fact that every website will respond differently when installed.

I wouldnt be suprised if the release date will be sometime next year.

to the development team i suggest/recommend to release the version as its now.

Realise this...
Even ravennuke had some minor bugs...,and even sentinel...
What you think cnbya will bring ?

And as menelaos61 asked us in a mail......
can i be sure there will be enough support on the forums for it ?

Thing is,there are just a handfull of beta testers ,and they are up to their eyeballs in the ongoing support...

So i think the best way (to rule out a tsunami of support requests) ,is to release it now as a unstable beta whatever so that more people can install it / play with it / so that more members will be qualified enough (debug) to reply on support requests...

Just my $1 in this...

I second that motion....

Cheers

You have at least five seasoned PHP-Nuke veterans on the boards here (and lots more I am sure) to help out. The sooner you release it the quicker bugs can be found and fixed. Release it as Beta and just have a process to collect bugs so you can track them to closer.

We'll help you out! Wink Please just get this long awaited release out the door.

Loki,
Don't worry about it, as you have requested this in a private email to me as well.

Cheers,
Richard
