64bit has informed me that http://www.techgfx.com has died. This is unfortunate for the users that use the Nuke Platinum distribution.
Quoting 64bit "So where does that leave everyone that used Nuke Platinum. Well fortunately there is the Platinum Mods domain where you can get updates and fixes. While I only just registered there today (as I fix and update my domains completely on my own) I've heard that many in the community are making that domain their new home for Platinum Support. I think that Platinum Mods is being run by Technocrat who did most of the support over at techgfx.com in the first place, but after the fiasco at techgfx.com I have stayed out of the Platinum community completely, so I can't say anything about evolution of Platinum or who is even involved for sure."Note:
From Raven - As Sixontonoffun points out in his comment to this article, the demise was announced in this article. It is always a sad day when a long established site and associates of that site have to leave. We all have to step back at times and reevaluate. We do hope to see you back ASAP!
Re: TechGFX.com Dies (Score: 1) | ![]() | I didn't follow the community there much but this was announced some time back http://ravenphpscripts.com/article-1373--0-0.html I think that nearly a month warning was pretty decent but its great to know there is still support available. |
Re: TechGFX.com Dies (Score: 1) | ![]() | like i commented before ,and under the flag of my own opinion....people shouldnt be involved with wannabe or look a like nuke versions. There's always a chance you end up with a unsupported nuke when people pull the plug like TechGFX.com did. However...(and like we dutch people say) ..it also shows character and (balls) if you have the nerv to quit. When something is at the end of its potential then its better to move on.. And keeping it alive on another website isnt such a great idea... Its like with nukecops (as a lot of coders say) when it was sold that was automatically the end of it. |
Re: TechGFX.com Dies (Score: 1) | ![]() | Well, this is much more politically correct than the news annoucement that I wrote for posting here (which is probably a good thing as I posted it as a "Memorial" saying that no funeral or moment of silence is planned) ... lol I do think that it is really bad for TechGFX to leave 20,000 people in the lurch and I say so in my article at http://64bit.us/article88.html [64bit.us] Others in the Platinum community have also chimed in with major concerns especially about the article that Raven links-to in the announcement. Specifically that TechGFX is supposedly continuing development but ending the community. It's like something that FB would pull. The folks over at Platinummods are pretty bitter about it as well, nevermind those of us that were on the development team. |
