Not saying this will answer your specific problem, but I have had problems with the loading of any website so today I disable google accelerator and everything is loading faster with no need to do a refresh.

I might also suggest a service like [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]
i believe they still have a free option, but at least have a free trial. It will ping your server every 30min from all over the globe, and give info on response time, etc. You will be able to see if others are experiencing lag as well. You will get emails when your server is unreachable. If you have a way of accessing the site without a domain name (by ip or temporary url your host gave you when you signed up) that could narrow down dns issues

OKAY ya'll. My webhost sent me another response and here's what they say:

"We do have other servers that are running php 5.3.6 with varnish (advanced caching) and cloudlinux which helps keep sites running fast and smooth regardless of what is happening with other sites on the same server. I am not entirely sure that RavenNuke runs on php 5.3 yet so you might check first. If it does then you would honestly be better off moving to another server as it will not only increase speed but it also has double the cpu, and triple the ram."

So, my question is, will Ravennuke run on PHP 5.3? I'm guessing my site would benefit from the move they mention as long as RN will run on that version of PHP.

EDIT: Found the answer in the WIKI:
Although core RavenNuke™ is certified to run on 5.2, some add-on modules and hacks may not. RavenNuke™ currently has some issues on 5.3 +.

BUMMER! Sad

RN should run on 5.3. If you want to make the jump I would be more than willing to trouble shoot any problems you may have with core RN products. I can probably help with third party ones as long as they are not major structural changes. I would not anticipate and major problems with third party modules, but I do not want to say I am going to completely rewrite them.

Thank you very much Pablin! Smile

The only 3rd party addons I have are Coppermine Gallery Module 1.3.2, Video Stream Module 4.3.5 and Member Map Module 1.0.0. The rest of my RN is stock.
Oh and I use the attachment mod in the Forums as well as the 'colorbox' feature for some of my images.

If you want to take a look at my site before I have my host move it, let me know, otherwise, I can ask them to move it ASAP.

The key, too, is to leave $display_errors to false in config.php when you move. There are some warnings that will be generated running RN 2.4.x and below on 5.3 (mostly around features that are being deprecated).

Most if not all of these should be fixed in the next release.

I didn't read every reply word for word ... but .. Have you tried disabling your anti-virus application? Since it happens with IE and FF it's not a browser problem.

Go ahead and have them move your site. There should not be any major problems.

OKAY. My site has been moved and some things are broken.

I'm getting blank pages in some areas, especially the Forums. I also have 3 Content pages that are showing up blank now.
Also, News Articles, when clicking read more or comments come up with blank pages too.

Debug info shows this on blank pages:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/portaln/public_html/portal/includes/class.autokeyword.php on line 113

Email sent.

I asked my webhost if mb_internal_encoding is turned on after searching the forums and finding the same error another user was getting. I have not heard back from them yet.

It appears my web host fixed something because I am no longer getting blank pages.

"php will have to be recompiled on the server. Please check with them(RN developers), and have them look in your cpanel for anything else that needs to be on.."

The only thing I see not working now is my Quick Reply mod in the forums.

EDIT: Weird. Quick Reply mod magically just started working. I think I am losing my mind here.... Razz

If you are seeing your captcha then I cannot think of any other extension which needs to be added.

SQL was: SELECT * FROM nuke_comments where vidid = qvidid LIMIT 0,20

Then there is this one:

August 4, 2011, 6:12 am 1100 : Table 'nuke_session' was not locked with LOCK TABLES
SQL was: INSERT INTO nuke_session (uname, time, host_addr, guest) VALUES ('barefootnit', '1312456367', '209.225.100.109', '0')
remote addr: 209.225.100.109

That one only shows up one time...

Appears to be a stack overflow issue. Although resource overrun used to be a problem it shouldn't be these days as technology changes to quick. Your host should be storing db files on a separate server for security if nothing else. If you're on a server that is timing out, experiences overruns, or congested d-packet processing, stack overflow issues then I (myself) would be looking for a better host. Check out host who advertise cloud servers, (which is actually incorrect terminology). If you switch host don't let your present host transfer your files get the new (good) host to transfer them.

Admin area still slows site down even after my host moved my site to another server.

This is getting annoying. The biggest problem is that it is not consistent. Sometimes when I enter the admin area it loads quickly. Other times, it takes in excess of 12-18 seconds for the images and everything to load in the main admin area. Then when I try to edit a news article, the fckeditor takes forever to load and then sometimes it does not load at all and I have to refresh. Once this all happens, the rest of the site becomes a little slower and then slowly starts becoming more responsive as I browse around.

I have no idea what to try next. I even tried disabling Nuke Sentinel for a while and that made no difference.

If it is only happening sporadically and doesn't happen at off-hours (like 2am) it's likely your host has too many sites on one shared ip. does the lag usually happen during peak internet traffic times? Are other users experiencing this?

Your host is using single, over sold servers. This accounts for the sporadic peaks and valleys in data packet delivery rates. You are having to wait for a server task that someone else is doing before your task can be performed. Example: You go to a restaurant and have to take a number and wait for your number to come up. Once it does you then are served.

Now when you type or make a new request that hasn't be cached that will slow the server even more. Your host can move your site all they want but it will not resolve the problem. It's not a server issue, it's a router issue. Router issues affect several servers. Odds are they may not have their own data center but are reliant on a data center which may be located a few states away.

Any way you put it, until your host (whoever it is) stops the habit of overselling server space your problem won't go away.

Edited: for typo. Smile

Just a thought, are you by any chance using a free account. Do you mind posting the name of your host and your website? And are you having this problem using [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

This can be the most aggravating thing. Sad

Maybe try a a temporary solution disable Graphics in Admin Administration Menu and set the editor to 0 until you find out more or an other host.

I just tried again now and loads slow entering Admin area. All other areas are fine. it is just when I enter the Admin area when the site gets laggy for a few.

I hate to change hosts as I just changed. These guys have been great so far with the help.

I don't know what to do at this point.

DFG Hosting is my webhost. I don't think my host is overselling. They are pretty new and compared to my previous host the overall speeds are smokin'!

Susann, How do you set the editor to 0?
That FCKEDITOR is really slowing things down....
