Ah, but it isn't for downloading - it's for public testing on that site.

lol, What Hitwalker says is true. The changes are taking place so rapidly that even the people on the team have a hard time keeping up with them. What you would download now would be changed significantly in 12 hours so all we are trying to do is keep a reasonably current version out there for you to test and report problems with. And when you report problems, these are evaluated and if we can duplicate them and figure out a fix then it results in further changes.

I think some might think that public beta would be a beta test of the admin functions too.

That is a point though, are the admin functions evaluated and ok?

Wow, Some nice responses. As Cody-G said I was under the impression that testing the beta for this ment downloading, putting a test site up and running through all of it even the admin section. But thanks anyway for the insight.

Making the admin functions available "publically" would be very difficult. What if someone changed say the theme preference? Everyone would be affected. And that's an innocuous example. We could have folks turning modules or blocks on and off changing comment settings, a whole raft of things and and all users for the testing site would be affected. So that's hard.

As to allowing downloads ... the software is constantly changing. Even those of use who are working on the project can barely keep up. So, if we made a download available it would be outdated in a matter of days if not hours. Plus then we'd have installation questions to contend with and that would detract from getting the release ready.

As to the question of whether the admin functions have been tested, the answer is yes and extensively. Will they be perfect ... well of course Smile
