Question about google ads on my site

My site is running RavenNuke 76, I have been searching the web for google adsense blocks for my site, I was wondering would I need to download any blocks. What I did was create the ads on google then copy and paste the code in a add a new block section on my site in the admin panel, is this a good way to do it or should I just download a adsense module block, I am worried about site security issues. I have the google adsense, google search, and google referrals running in blocks I created
