I have a subdirectory that i have another domain pointing to. This domain is a vhost on the box. It is also setup as a subdomain. Using the subdomain url everything works fine. If i use the main url the site comes up but after loging in it does not recognize you are loged in, you can navigate the site etc., log in as admin, but as soon as you click an admin function it asks for the login again, same if loged in as regular user and going to your account... it repeatedly asks you to login again. But like i said if you access the site from the subdomain url everything works fine. I am puzzled so is the support staff where my site is hosted.

well i have a few websites like that.
make sure your your domainnames are set to the subdomain.
this can act weird i know.
but thing is....do not enter the url / address in any config using the url of the subdomain.
always use the url the site should have like...
[ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

if thats your real site still the url in config or whatever should be.. [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

naturaly your host has to point that domain to that subdomain...
hope this makes any sense...

is there somewhere to look for where this might be set? I used the cpanel to install it. from the main site. My host allows addon domains. I am going to do a manual upgrade to 7.8 then add the patches and see if that helps

maybee i need to do a total manual install from scratch... the cpanel install could have defaulted some settings to the subdomain url... since its the cpanel for the main domain. I poked around and did not see anything in the files where this is set.

well it seems to be a cookie problem.
