Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /... /mainfil

When I add:

}

to the mailfile.php and attemp to access my home page I get the following error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ELSE in /... /mainfile.php on line 444

I copied the files over to my site and ran the nsnst.php install.

I edited the javascript.php and header.php files.

I am using phpnuke 76 and nuke sentinel 213

I am a beginner and could use some suggestions.

This can't be:

You have an ELSE w/o an IF

Thanks, I edited an original with DreamWeaver and that fixed the problem. I was using notepad to do the edits. I think it caused the corruption.
