Hey guys and gals,

I just took the BIG leap! I just upgraded from 6.5 to 7.6 and installed chat's 2.8 patch and re-did Sentinel.

Now everytime I load a page in the Admin area, I get "Access Denied" at the top, but it still loads the page fine. It's more annoying than anything.

What could be causing this?

can you do me a favour and post the the exact message you see at the top left hand corner (if memory serves me right) . It's just that I know it's possible to find the solution for this in the forums (used it myself Smile ) - just cant remember the search words

p.s. it's to do with deleting files in the admin folder

Very top left:

"Access Denied"

The rest of the page loads fine. It doesn't stop from loading the page.

P.S. The main Admin page loads fine and doesn't show it. It's only when I click various Admin links on the page.

still cant find the relevant topic so i will try like this :

I think it's to do with deleting the files in admin/case and admin/links (for the modules that now in 7.6 have their admin files inside the module itself)

i had a very simular problem untill i worked out that there were still these files on the server left over from a previous install

Make sure the old auth.php that was in the root for 6.5 is deleted entirely. Keep the auth.php in the includes folder. Delete the ENTIRE admin folder server-side (back it up first), then re-upload a fresh 2.8 Chatserv admin folder.

See if that works... if it does, add back any admin area hacks for added-on modules, or properly covert those modules to /modules/{module_name}/admin files (posted on nukefixes).
