Hello all,

I am new to RavenNuke so please excuse me if I misunderstood something in the wiki.

I have tried to install RavenNuke 2.5, following the wiki, 3 different times now and I keep getting an "Internal Error 500" message.

I get the same error regardless of where I am trying to navigate to in my directory structure.

I have set the database up on a couple of occasions just to make sure it wasn't something there.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would love to try this product out but as it stands now I think I might have to head back to more familiar territory with phpnuke 8.2

Thanks in advance for any help.

A couple of questions.

Could you run the installer without receiving errors?

Did you change any settings in your .htaccess or rnconfig.php?

On a side note, phpnuke 8.2 is not secure and will get hacked and spammed.

I am following the instructions on the wiki which require the database to be configured first, then the config.php to be edited. I leave the rnconfig.php alone as it says it can be done later.

Next I upload my site.

Now, regardless of where I attempt to navigate to in my directory it gives me an 500 - internal error so I have not been able to run the installSQL.php script.

Hope this helps..

And thanks so much for the tip on 8.2!

It sounds like a server configuration issue. Have you had a site on this domain before or is this a new domain name and hosting?

Remove the .htaccess file in the root of the site and see if the issues are resolved.

This is a new host. I will look into testing it on another host I have setup and running another php application. Same provider though so I really don't know what could be goofy about it.

I will try that and get back with the results.

Thanks so much for everyone's help so far. I really appreciate it.

I would love to have any 'working' release, but the newest is the only one I can get my hands on... Sad

Hate to say it but this does sound like a server configuration problem if you still get a 500 error after removing or renaming the htaccess file.

@ kwiqness can you create a file called test.php and put in the following code
Code:

<?php
phpinfo();

Upload it to your server and Private Message me the url to it so I can take a look please.

certainly. I am having an ISP service issue right now so soon as I have my connection back I will begin working on this. I will PM you later once I get that accomplished.

Thanks!

@ kwuqness - no problem. I'll be going to bed soon so no rush.

@ Palbin - do we have/know anyone on the Dev team who has a server with FastCGI?
I only ask as KennyW reports 500 errors with that setup but it isn't something I can replicate because I don't that type of setup and it might be nice to rule out type of server configuration.

kwiqness, PHP 5.2 and MySQL 5.x should be perfect.

AH HA!

I re-upped all the files (after a 5 hour wait due to my isp) and had the same problem.. Error 500.

I then deleted the htaccess files and ding ding, it worked. I will now proceed with the installation instructions.

Thanks so much for all your help, seems to be a file corruption issues somewhere along the way.

Will keep you posted as to any more errors I may encounter.

Thanks again!!!!

Everything installed just fine for me after my file corruption was sorted out and the htaaccess file was nuked.

I will be souring the web for blocks, modules, and themes at this point. Any links to repositories of this type of content would be AWESOME, but you have all done so much already in just hearing my cries for help and helping me work through them.

I truely appreciate all the help. This might just be a turning point for me in my php application preference.

Thanks again.

Depends somewhat on what you are looking for. Great stuff available at these sites: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! amongst others... most older blocks/modules made for *nuke can run within RN with a little work, depending on your skill level and how many issues there are with the original scripts.

You might want to try a blank .htaccess file and see if that doesn't cause any issues. If it doesn't, then it is a particular line within the .htaccess that is causing the issue. You will lose some capabilities by just not using .htaccess altogether (like protecting your admin area or ShortLinks), so it might be worth a little extra investigation. Wink
