OK,

I think this is funny......

Today, I had an email advising that some mutt had tried to hack the site with a union attack (I had the hack script installed, plus disipals error pages mods)

Any who, the IP, if you want it is 200.165.184.117
dumb ass donkeys....

Besides, last week there was all this fuss about Sentinel over on NC.... I stood up for you guys against the bigots and "we know best" brigade.....

I tried protector in the past, but it was slowing the site a little....

So I installed Sentinel.

And then read on here a way of testing it....

I did. And I laughed. I was well impressed. I'd followed the instructions correctly, and it worked Laughing

And I also had lots of hundreds of widnows everywhere... .like Rabbits Smile Shocked Razz

BUT

(and now the real funny part)

I'm now banned from my site.... Shocked

LOL

How do I get round this; not sure if the admin I am in touch with will know what to do.... as I am not familiar with the interface that much.....

I can access phpmyadmin, if that helps.... I've found the tables concerned (I think) so I just need the info...... on what to remove from the tables....

Cheers for your help!

*TIP:* if you plan on testing the script, forget the ban mode initially....

Thanks for supplying me with yet another tool for protecting my site....

It will soon be a battle between site content, and site security Laughing

PS..
is there anyway I can get a list of sites that have been blocked by others that I can easily import into my list, so that I don't give the muppets a chance of getting near my site?

Cheers.

The only IP address I added to my list manually was the 200.*.*.* range. About 40-50% of the hack attempts on my site were from that range which is Brazil. I know many people don't like the fact that someone has excluded an entire country, but I am tired of dealing with security issues from these people and would like to spend more time on other areas of my site.....*shrugs*

Sorted- logged in from work and un banned my IP..... LOL Razz

For everybody's info that may be doing research on this prior to install (if you are thinking of trying Sentinel, but think the pop ups are morally wrong)... it's no biggie.. took me all of 10 seconds to sort it out; will slow the hackers down, though, which is a good thing (even if it makes the site more of a challenge)

Okay, to unban yourself from your site (I do this often myself) go into your phpMyAdmin and "Browse" the nuke_nsnst_ips table. Go thru the list until you find you ip and delete that row. If you have it write to your htaccess file you will need to ftp into your site, download a copy of the htaccess file, open it in a text editor, remove the "deny from" line that has your ip, save it, and finially reupload it. This should have the ban of your ip completely removed Smile

Anyway to add your IP address to a "protected" list that would keep you from banning yourself?

Something like if (client.IP== server.IP) NO_BAN();. We'll look into it. This should be under enhancement requests though Wink
