A lot of these look great in large sizes - but we need to see them in 16 x 16 (favicon) and 88 x 30 (button) sizes, too. The thing about the Mozilla icons is that they are recognizable even at small sizes... |

So you want to add 88x31 to that? 468x60 too? |

Here's my submissions, please scrap the first one I designed.
The one above has added shadows just for effect.

Those are nice, Mike. I would probably do away with the drop shadow and inner shadow and maybe slightly bezel them. That is of course, just a suggestion. |

Thanks for the suggestion, jaded. The first one is just for display-something I was toying around with. I do agree with you on bezeling them though. |

I find that inner shadow adds more depth than the drop shadow on most pieces. If you get time, I would play around with both. I am glad that you were not offended at my suggestion. |

Offended, not at all. I'm not in this to win anything, I'm just trying to help the commmunity and have some fun in the process. I am continuing to toy around with your suggestions as well as some of my own. I also have other ideas for a design. |

Here's a Raven I painted using Microsoft paint. Just playing around took about 3 hours.

Nice job, Mike. MS Paint is very difficult to work with.
I know that Photoshop is expensive, but you could look into Corel Paint Shop pro. It only costs about 70.00 and it a fantastic program. The learning curve is not that high and it would make the design work SO much easier for you and improve your overall results. MS Paint simply does not offer the options that a more full program has to offer and therefore, your results are limited. |

Fireworks is another real easy to use Graphics program that is full featured. It can do just about anything Photoshop can.

I already have Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, GIMP, and several other graphic programs and I use them alot. I only did it using MS Paint to show what could be done using a simple graphics program. And there has been discussion here about what a Raven actually looks like. |

LOL...Making something like that in Paint would be a HEADACHE. My hats off to you. You are a better artist than I am.
The weekend is coming. I may make another stab at it....

For the life of me I can't understand why Raven doesn't just use the logo at the top of the page. It's already recognized as Raven with the bird on top. Why change it? |

As anyone can see by visiting this thread, the talent is awesome. One of my goals in running this contest was to give participants a chance to display their talent and hopefully drive business to their sites. How I will end up using these is still not entirely clear to me
BTW, I intend to close the contest soon after the release of RavenNuke(tm) v2.30.01, sometime this month. Then the plan is to have a winner selected sometime in March. But, I do retain the right to change my mind if needed |
