Migrating Users and Forum Posts To 2.3

I have a throw-away domain where I am testing 2.3. I plan on making this a production domain IF I can migrate users and forums/posts from another domain running RN 2.20 .. Is there an easy method for doing this? Is it as simple as backing up the "users" in the DB and then restoring it to the 2.3 DB? Same for forums/posts ?

The reason I want to do it this way is I want to keep the production domain going at the same time until everything works in the 2.3 site after which I can rename the test site to the production domain name, etc. I've done this before and is quite simple and easy.

All the information you need is in the HowToInstall guide under 'upgrading.
Essentially you will need to take the site off-line for as long as it takes to upload the new files (after backing up your old ones), back up your DB then on your old DB execute the rndb_upgrade.php script

Maybe I wasn't clear enough, my bad. No, I do not want to upgrade the existing production site as such. I have another domain that I use for testing and it is this domain that is running 2.3. What I want to do is to use the same "users" and "forums/posts" DB's that are on the production domain and transfer those over to the test site DB and if all goes well I can take the existing production domain offline and rename the test domain to that of the production domain .. sounds confusing I guess but I've done this before when upgrading from 6.5 to 2.20

If all goes well then "test" will become "ufaq". Much better this way than using a local test application IMHO of course.

dad7732, there are definite differences between the 2.2 vs. 2.3 versions of RN in regards to both the forums and the user tables. What I would suggest instead is to take a complete backup of your existing 2.2 site tables and move them over to your "new" database. Since the data and structure will still be at 2.2 level and your files will be at 2.3, run INSTALLATION/rndb_upgrade.php on your new database again to bring the 2.2 structure and data to the 2.3 level. Then you should be in good shape.
