I am troubleshooting a bug that happens after a certian amount of time passes while logged into a testing application at work. The user is logged in and a session is captured and he is authenticated at every page as they browse the site. They will randomly getting dumped back to the index.php.

It happens whether you are logged in as admin or a student.

I have been reading up on handling sessions and session.cache_expire but am really shooting in the dark.

If the session is lost they would be required to login again... correct?

What could be randomly dumping me back to index.php?

There might be some sort of PHP header command that takes you back to index.php. Not sure if it's because the session is lost - that would depend on the code you're using.
