forum signature problems

this is not a recent issue, but one that has been a problem ever since my site was started in late 2004. its now to the point to where its getting really annoying and im looking for a fix.

when any user puts in a code (html or bbcode) for images to appear in their signature, it will not show the picture, but only the code, even if they are using the correct code. usually i will go into the users admin panel and type in the code again for them, save it and then go back into their user options again to let the picture show up and save it again. also, sometimes signatures will just randomly stop working even if they worked before.

Sounds like several issues.

The image issue was handled recently here. This one shows several possibles reasons why images might not be displayed.

Checking the things described in that post might also help resolve the randomly working signature issues, too.
