okay, im using 7.6

i used to have 7.7 but downgraded it to 7.6
after a few months, my site started having problems
Like, when I edit an existing content. lets says news
after editing, when i go back to admin.php
I wont see the option to edit the topic i just edited
i have to type its story ID manually to edit an existing topic

that's one of the bugs my site started having

i do have nuke sentinel installed
would upgrading it solve the problem?
what do you guys recommend?
oh yeah, one more question. any solution to solve the <BR> problem?
I dont like typing <BR> anymore for everyline. I read that the WYSIWYG editor is still buggy?

providence, maybe it is just my versions of nuke (7.5 and 7.6), but I believe this is how most of the "content" within Nuke works (aside from Messages and Content). For news, I have to be logged in as Admin, go into Read or Comments so that I am seeing the complete article and then I'll see the "Edit" function on that page. In my opinion, just one of many "sloppy" user interface design issues with the Nuke admin modules.

There is a hack somewhere that will make the news (for example) to work similar to forums where <b r> are not necessary. Unfortunately, I cannot remember where I found it. Try to do some searches here in these forums as I am almost 90% certain that is where I saw it almost a year back.

That has always been the case when you have multiple people posting stories. Only the person who posts the stories can see his own by default. I actually do have a fix for this as I patched my site a long time ago. If you haven't figured it out then post back and I will try to find the code. It's a minor fix. (Sorry I hijacked your thread Montego Wink )

Hi guys, thanks for the reply
I am the only one who post stories, and no one else
Is upgrading to a new version worth it?

Do I need to reinstall nuke sentinel after I upgraded my phpnuke?

As far as I know, 7.7 and 7.8 work in exactly the same was as the version you are using, excpet you have the additional insecurity problems of the tiny mice editor.
If you prefer not to have to use html tags in your news posts, you could always install SPAW Editor.

Well there is a simple work-around!
When making articles, ensure you post in the first text box a brief intro to the article and then use the extended text box for the rest.
By using the extended text box, it ensure the 'Read More' link appears - and from their you can see the Edit button Smile

Re-installing will not fix this. As Raven mentioned, this is a 'gremlin' which as far as I know affects all virgin distributions of nuke.
Unless someone can help with some code modifications your only recourse is to either insert your articles as I mentioned in my previous post or use the extended text box for the entire article rather than splitting it between the two text boxes.

As Montego mentioned, this 'gremlin' is due to a sloppy user interface.
In an ideal world the code should check to see if the use id is an admin, then display the edit button below the article.
There is no real need to check for submitter/informant id as posts should always be checked by an admin any way - though there is no reason why the functions couldnt be extended to cater for that.

If you enable comments on your news articles you will also get a "Comments..." type link (most themes) and that is another way to get to your news article details (similar to "Read more...") so that you get the [Edit] function.
