Hi

I want to install nuke on my server. I have made some changes on it on my computer using window xp. When I make a tar.gz file of it and upload it to server (appache) and open it there, almost every file has 444 az permission.

Is there any way to change this to file don't change the permission when using tar.gz???

Thanks for helping.

Upload the files uncompressed instead of uploading them as a single compressed file.

64bitguy, Thanks

But this is no problem for me with high speed connection. Those who still use modem must be sitting there and uploading one by one to server. This way is much faster as you know.

I hopped to find a solution for this. Just helping poor people Surprised

tar.gz should have preserved the permissions (that is actually the idea behind that compression format). The extraction process would be something like upload it to a temporary director and view the files. Then move them like:

Code:
tar -xzvf $lt;nuke.tar.gz$gt;", "mv -R html /var/www/"

I could be wrong, but I think that's how I would do it.
