I tried to do this, but got this error on both sites. This is the outline I used
Code:
How can we forbid a list of externally configured hosts from using our server?

Solution:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteMap hosts-deny txt:/path/to/hosts.deny
RewriteCond ${hosts-deny:%{REMOTE_HOST}|NOT-FOUND} !=NOT-FOUND [OR]
RewriteCond ${hosts-deny:%{REMOTE_ADDR}|NOT-FOUND} !=NOT-FOUND
RewriteRule ^/.* - [F]
and then received a 500 error code. Does this have to be placed in a specific location in the htaccess file? Thank you, Steve

I'll look into this. I just did a copy/paste for the article. And no, it doesn't have to be i any special place. I'll get back to you on it.
