Advanced Username Color Redesign and Intergration

I have many requests over the last couple of years about username colors. Even though Austin's AUC is a good set up and I think it would be a great addition to RN, Although I truly believe it would need to be redesigned.

Some concerns I have are;

It should be based on groups not individuals.
At the moment you need to set up an AUC group and then assign specific user to that group.Generally you are giving user a specific color as they have elevated privillages of some type within the forum, So therefore you have to setup a group for the AUC group as well and assign your user to that group.

It should be intergrated with ranks
As it currently stands you need to set each user's rank individually.

IMO it should be setup as follows.The forum groups should be able to be assigned a color. If this group has a colour assigned the user automatically has the colour.There could also be a rank mod integrated so that you could select what rank a group is assigned, So that if you have 5 members in a group and the administrator assigns a rank to the group each member's rank is updated.This new set-up would also require that if a group was deleted all members in that group would have there privileges, Rank and user color set back to standard.Eventually as time permits there could even be a diagnostic function that would check users for invalid settings. e.g. if it were found that a user had the rank "BillyBob" but was not in the "BillyBob" group there privileges would alll be set back standard.

But this could all change obviously if phpbb3 is integrated with nuke.Or even if another forum is integrated as I did see somewhere that SMF was integrated.This could also be set-up in such away that it works with NSN groups as well so it could work throughout the nuke side of things.

Anyway I'm just waffling on but it is something I have been thinking about. Please don't hesitate to criticise, hit and/or kick me as I would like to know if there any of this would not work.

As you rightly say there has been talk about using phpBB3 and this is likely to be via a bridge rather than a full integration. This should make it is easier to incorporate phpBB3 mods.

Anyway thanks for your comments and we will bear them in mind when/if we decide on a specific direction.

I personally avoid the work to assign each user to a group.
I got too many users per day in the past and gave up with the complete group and point stuff.
Because of these reasons I would prefer to change just a few usernames too individual colors.
Guess for new websites its more interesting.

I know there are different color/groups mods available.
