what is the best way to stop using the "fake email" field in the user profile? If i just delete that field from the SQL database, will that cause instability within the site? thanks.

I believe you need to comment out the line in Your account and also remove it from the lang file.Maybe there are other files too. Its not really a good idea because the fake email option is there to protect the real e-mail address within several places in Nuke.
I don´t use 7.9 but I guess its the same way handled like in other versions.
