Hi,

What file controls the width of the forum?I've looked in the forum .css but it does not specify table width anywhere. The problem I have is that the site is fixed width yet the forum pushes the width out and I do not know where I can alter this in a css file or if it is specified in some kind of opentable function somewhere.

the forum theme is the default one (like on here) and the theme is litered

thanks

the file overall_header.tpl of your subsilver template...

then replace with this...

First, to see what theme is controlling your forums you need to look in the /themes directory and see if there is a /themes/forums directory. If so, then Forums will use the theme that is in that forums directory as the default. However, not many themes have such a directory.

If there is no such directory then Forums will use subSilver as the theme (a.k.a.) template. This is in the Forums/template directory. I believe that there is a subSilver.css file there. However, the css file can be overriden by settings that are stored in the bbthemes table and managed by the administrative panel in Forums. So it can be hard to determine what's controlling the forums.

One thing I've noticed is that if there is a long line (without any word breaks) in the text of a forum posting it can cause the width to "push" out. I'm not going to post one here but take a look at your postings on your own forums and see if that's the case. Break the long line or lines up and you may magically go back to a width that's comfortable.

I just tried this with a line of xxx's that scrolled way out and it definitely pushes the forum width out, but as I said I'm not posting that.
