I found a problem in my forum ver 2.0.17 with the name of a new member.
I try to explain the problem: I have a member with the name Pit. My newest member choosed the name Pit Bull with a space. So, if I´view his profile and click on : Find all posts by Pit Bull I get the posts from Pit because the url from Pit Bull is wrong: mysite.com/fsearch-author-Pit.html+Bull

It´s the first time that I found this problem, but I ´ll try to check all my members with spaces in her names. Is this only in version 2.0.17 or is this error because of GT and htaccess ?

Sounds like a mod_rewrite (GT / htaccess) issue, although I have not tested it on a non-GT server.

I´m using the standard GT Next Gen entry in the .htaccess.

He is our only user with spaces, but I have renamend his name and the link problem is solved.Of course it´s not the solution, because he need a new account.
Is there any other solution ?

The problem lines for the GT-Forums and .htaccess are these:

Code:

"'(?<!/)modules.php\?name=Forums&file=search&search_author=([a-zA-Z0-9_-]*)'",

"fsearch-author-\\1.html",

The problem is, I had the same issue with the Downloads search and it may also be on the News search. For the Downloads, I had to change code to use POST instead of GET in order to take GT/rewrite out of the picture. I could never figure out how to the space appropriately rewritten and then changed back in .htaccess.

I might also add that I only had the issue with IE. I have had issues with IE in the past with how it handles URLs... Mr. Gates likes to think he's smarter than us programmers and users and tries to "fix" things for us that don't need "fixing"!

If you, or someone else, figures this out, please post the solution here because it may be a broader issue with GT-NG that we may be able to resolve for each impacted Module.

Thanks!!!

I'd suggest checking the PHPBB forums - it sounds like the search function might be removing all not alphanumeric characters?
