Installation Overview

ok, i am convinced the installation instructions are not thorough enough, so can somebody help me check my work?

1. uploaded files to appropriate loactions
2. ran nsnst.php and deleted it
3. made included core edits
- some of these were different than what i had... do i try to make them fit in? previous experience says that this won't work, and i've had to reload originals. i had problems with the Your_Account/index.php and mainfile.php
4. I am confused about what to do with the htaccess and staccess files??

I am using phpnuke 7.8p3.2 with the Approve_Membership module. The sentinel block comes up, but i am sure it's not blocking anything because of this improper installation. Whenever i click on the Sentinel admin icon, all i get is the title of the page (Nuke Sentinal Admin Page) and nothing else, no links or anything. PLEASE HELP!

All of these questions have been addressed several times in the forums. I'm not trying to sound cocky, but you need to search the forums for the answers.
