The worst thing you can do is go up and down versions, files and db tables get mixed up and at times are messed up beyond repair, make sure you try the above with 7.5's files, if you have run the upgrade scripts your db is now most likely prepared for 7.5 and not 7.4

Thank you chatserv...I just began learning php in April so there is alot
for me to learn still. We will most likley just suck it up and install
a fresh version and start over. We will install in a separate directory.
Is there a way to install a new clean one and then move it to the main
directory so that it is live and remove the corrupted ver?

You are more than kind chatserv.....I have had this up and running since May of this year. I already have a new install completed and our current theme back together as well as starting to add my blocks and modules. The thing that I would most like to save if possible is the forums and all the current posts. Is that a possiblity? PM will be on its way shortly.

I'm having the same problem that's being described here.

I was using phpnuke7.3 (patched, I believe)

I messed up doing it the first time, executing the two upgrade scripts, then finding that the admin panel displayed only the logout button and that acess denied was the message I got when trying any of the links fom the admin panel on the index. Then I uploaded the html files and tried upgrading only to find I had messed up something but good.

I talked to my webhost, and he restored my database from the backup they keep, and I uploaded all my files from my own backup I'd done before messing with anything.

Then I uploaded the html files first, and then executed the upgrade scripts. Same result.

I then tried editing the files/deleted the files listed, as well as auth.php in the main html dir as was explained in the upgrading to 7.4.7.5 thread I found on nukeresources and this did not work either.

Finally, once again we restored the database and the files.

Now, the only problem I have (other than my complete inability to upgrade 7.3) is that the security code on the index log in is missing, somehow.

I guess I'm also pretty lost. Sad Any help or suggestions would be appreicated here.

I tried to follow the advice listed here... I am now in a death spiral of royally screwing up my site! It all followed my attempt at upgrading phpnuke 7.4 to 7.4 and losing admin access.

The site still worked... I just didn't have access.

I tried to follow everything listed here and now the site doesn't even respond.

Help!

Assuming the database is intact. Delete everything and start over. Be sure to save the config.php info for quick reference.

I think I've done enough for now. I need to find someone that knows what they are doing and get them to do this for me (nice donation to this site if I could find a volunteer!). Appreciate the help though!

Well.. checked back on the site at 1:00 am and everything is working again. Pretty weird. I couldn't even get into the control panel of the web server yesterday. I have no idea what I did wrong... no idea what fixed it. Ah well.. live and learn.

I think a fresh install of 7.5 is the way to go sixonetonoffun... I'll get someone that knows this stuff a little better than me to give me a hand. Luckily I know one or two guys that will give me some help!

I fixed mine by uploading my back-up db from right before the upgrades. I guess I will stay with 7.0.

I've got a good install of 7.5 running now... wasn't all that hard. Thanks for listening to me panic! First site I've ever been involved with and the thought of a bunch of people depending on it being up... and me responsible for it being down... well it was a bit stressful!

If you want to check the site out... [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Hi all,

I am having a somewhat similar issue and am not quite sure how to fix this. I just upgraded to 7.5 and ran into a problem with white page when adding authors, and that got resolved: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Now I tried to log in as one of the new authors that I created and all I got is the Logout/Exit icon and nothing else, but when I try to login as the god admin or the author pre-created prior to the upgrade I see everything.

Any thoughts?

I figured it out. I reloaded the authors.php from v 7.5 and modified the authors and it works now.

I gotta be honest with you folks, I feel that I should have stayed with 7.0, never had any issues... This new version is giving me an ulcer Confused...

Thankfully we got guys like Raven, Chatserv, Chris Karakas et. al. that readily provide a helping hand...

hmm
7.2-7.5 here, unless you're superuser, you don't see any of the options.
tried reloading all the files but none of the other admins can see anything

edit: ha! reading more, seems the functions are there just in different places. guess i gotta read how to set admin permissions to various sections. Wink
