I'd recomend Block + Email until its been running a while just in case there are some unseen issues like the (title here between braces) in weblinks and downloads for instance.

Just to clarify.

String Filters: Block & Email
Harvest Blocker: Block & Email
UNION Blocker: Block & Email
CLIKE Blocker: Block & Email
SCRIPT Blocker: Block & Email
AUTHORS Blocker: Block & Email

Is that right?

Just out of curiousity... what are "String Filters" anyway?

Because I didn't know what they where I'm not giving them the Popups but as for the rest...

I'm running.

String Filters: Block, Email, & Background
Harvest Blocker: Block, Email, & Background
UNION Blocker: Block, Email, & Popups
CLIKE Blocker: Block, Email, & Popups
SCRIPT Blocker: Block, Email, & Popups
AUTHORS Blocker: Block, Email, & Popups

I figure “UNION” and “CLIKE” are intentional so if someone hits me... hit 'em back, but I'm a little unsure on the rest. I don't really know what "String Filters" are, and I'm a little unsure as to what the “SCRIPT Blocker” is looking for too. Is this the reason I can't make a link to Raven's website?

I guess an explanation for the "AUTHORS Blocker" would be good too as I'm not too sure of that either... honestly, I'm not TOO SURE of anything except that I've had five attempts since installing and it's been 3 UNIONS, 1 CLIKE, and an AGENT and none have gotten through, that's the only thing I'm sure of. Very Happy

Anyway, a dev recommendation wouldn't be a bad idea. Set what to where and why. I don't know much about the hows and whys of the attacks, I just know I need to protect my site… from that point on I'm on a huge learning curve.

Peace!

I've set mine to "Block, Email, & Background " on everything and had no problems with phpnuke v7.0.

I heard that String Filters and Harvest Blocker should turn Off becouse they make your site too slow...
....however i don't really know if this is correct or not!!

Most do. It's really negligible. Try it and determine your needs.

I have loaded Sentinel on my site and have tried to change the Blocker Settings, etc. but when I save changes the page reloads with everything back to the default "OFF" settings. Is there something I am missing in my setup? Question

Thanks

You have to be logged into nuke as admin. Then, type [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] click new install. Assuming you see all successful messages, you have it installed. Then delete nsnst.php from the folder. To help us better instruct people in the future, what was confusing in the readme?

about the nsnst.php the Read Me states:

Line 93> html/nsnst.php ---------------------> This will install, upgrade,
or destall NSN Sentinel(tm) tables.

and then,

Line 116> 1) Upload all new files and run the nsnst.php file. Perform a
first time install.

I did not know how to run the nsnst.php file for a first time install, but then again, I am new to this stuff so it may be me. I did try looking for a more basic step-by-step install process for newbie's. I managed to get through everything else by searching through your forums and piecing bits of information together from the different forum entries.

I do want to say that this has been the best place for phpnuke help I've found since I started my site. Thanks to you Raven and all of the other friends here that support people like me. Very Happy

Steve

Good deal! Would you like to "volunteer" to write an install guide that you feel more meets the needs of a user at your level (no offense intended!)? We are making some great changes in the upcoming v2.0 release, and your input would be beneficial I'm sure. Thanks!
