I have a website that I would like to upgrade from php-nuke 7.9 to RN 2.40.01. Is it possible to do an in place upgrade? I am new to the whole website making and maintenance. I would hate to have to start over from scratch again.

I know how to do a fresh install, but an in place upgrade seems a lot harder. I would like to keep users, passwords and forums at the very least.

Can someone point me to a guide of what to watch out for. What not to overwrite, or just simply how to do an upgrade.

The stupid forum bots suck. I would rather not start from scratch though. HELP!!!!! Very Happy

Does anyone know where I can get the database downgrader. It used to be available from nukescripts, but the link is dead?

Thanks Nuken. I should have replied again last night I found it at clanthemes, but it had trouble with an 8.0 database. (As they said it might) I am now trying to figure out how to change the structure to a 7.6 version without it.

Gremmie posted about it, but only gave the jist of what to do. Any ideas on this one?

Use the table compare in the RN 2.40.01 distribution for starters. Figure out what differences there are between your current database and the 2.40.01 database. Backup everything, then apply changes using PHPmyadmin. The Wiki contains very useful information about the upgrade process

Other tools that you might want to have in your arsenal are MYSQLdiff and Bigdump. Search the discussions on them in these forums for starters.
