My NS has disappeared from admin menu.

I was running 7.6 patched 3.1, patched to 3.5 and it disappeared from admin menu, no NS icon at all anymore in admin menu.

Also, when that happened my block doesn't display the copyright information anymore, just says _AB_NUKESENTINEL see below:

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you just overwrote your installation with the 3.5 files. You will need to re-install the core edit modifications and you might also want to re-upload all of the NS files. Hopefully your NS database tables are still intact (should be), but if not, you'll simply need to re-install those as well.

This is DIRECTLY from the readme.txt from the upgrade.

Quote:

Important notes relating to Nuke Patched 3.1 and above:

IMPORTANT: IF YOU ALREADY ARE USING NUKE PATCHED 3.1 OR NEWER YOU
DO NOT NEED TO RUN THE INCLUDED UPGRADE FILES.

Since I was running 3.1, there was no reason to run the upgrade files, so I did just as you thought, I just overwrote the files that were there as that is what the install said to do. If that wasn't right, then it sounds like the person that created the readme in the patch would have said that.

According to the docs in the install, I did what it said and there were no core edit's mentioned except for 3rd party blocks, and even that didn't make sense. So what do you mean by re-install the core edit modifications??

When you installed NukeSentinel, you had to make changes to core *nuke files. As with any customization/hack, if you replace a script with something else, your customizations/hacks are gone.

The notes that you have posted are referring to the database update scripts I believe and, yes, they do not apply in this case. Your issue, I believe, is not database related, rather script files have been overwritten. You need to re-apply the core file edits and re-upload the NukeSentinel(tm) files to be sure.

BTW, another key concept to ingrain in your web site maintenance process is to also make sure you take backups of your database and files prior to making ANY changes so that you may quickly revert back if you end up messing something up.

This is over 20+ years of IT experience talking here...

Hey,

Sorry, have been busy with my new house every week working on it until after midnight every night. That makes sense now that you explain.

I am pretty certain it isn't a DB issue, for sure sounds more like what you mention.

I will go back through the core edits and try that.

Thanks

Please speed up Smile

But, you would benefit from having v2.40.00 as we have made language modifications. Let me know. Thanks!

eldorado, is it possible for you to pm me an email address? I have a spreadsheet of all the language files and how they stand. At least last time I checked. I would consider it about 95% accurate.

P.S. I think Raven meant v2.40.00 Wink
