Nothing else better to do with some time off but try to come up with some viable suggestions, etc.

With that in mind, and in my particular case which may not apply to the vast majority of RN users, I was thinking maybe someone could come up with a routine when a user registers when admin approval is enabled. And that is to do an auto-blacklist check on the IP address of the user registering. When the admin gets the email, the BL check woulld be included in the email letting the admin know IF this user is blacklisted and on which lists.

I do this now but manually which is really not that big a deal, but I sometimes get dozens of registration requests daily. Just a few minutes ago I got a request and when I did the BL check, they were listed on 12 BL's. Not someone I want registering to say the least. And yes, I fully understand that some IP's are dynamic and should not be blacklisted.

Thoughts ??

Cheers

Sounds really interesting but I believe the most donĀ“t need this.
I have a different issue and need to check a site where working usernames for different sites are displayed. So if you end up at such a site you will get some fun with always the same try with a specific username.

Right, most don't need or want it. I need to check blacklists so that I know if I'm registering a spammer that is not wanting support but only to post some nonsense and include an ad-link. The more heads-up the better.

I believe there is no ultimative solution you will always ban innocent persons because they used a proxy, dynamic IP or the blacklist is not up-to-date.

Yes, I realize that but when the domain they list is [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] (I made that up), it's a clear indication. Smile

Don't need a BL report on that one.

Cheers
