During installation the recommendations for Register Globals is off and Output Buffering is on, but I have the opposite for both of these. I don't have a php.ini file to change any settings for the Register Globals, and not sure in what file I would change the Output Buffering.

I did try creating a php.ini file and added register_globals = off to the file and also added php_flag register_globals on to .htaccess file as suggested in a topic, but the register_globals setting remained on. Please could someone tell me how to change these settings?

Thanks for any help Smile

I recommend asking your host.

jane65, probably just a typo, but instead of "php_flag register_globals on" it needs to be "php_flag register_globals off". If a php.ini or this doesn't solve this, then, yes, your only other hope is your host. They may not be allowing you to override these... if so, I would suggest getting a better host.

Thanks for the replies. It wasn't a typo, I did have it 'on'! Smile I am a bit confused though - do I need to add code to both php.ini and .htaccess files or just add "php_flag register globals off"to the .htaccess file? Also how do I check whether the register globals are still on or off now after doing this as I checked it initially during the installation process?

You can add "php_flag register_globals off" within the .htaccess if you don´t have access to the phpini. file.
Click forums and there under Groups is PHP and PHPInfo.Click PhpInfo this should show you all the settings.
