Problems Loading Core Tables

Hi there, I'm a tad bit newer to this and all but I do have a good hang for it and have tested and installed several different version of Php Nuke (wish I would have found this one first Razz

). I've been using the guide found at [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] which might I say is a great guide and I appreciate all the effort that was put into making it. When I get to the step " Install RavenNuke(tm) Tables To The Database" I am able to access the InstallSQL.php page. When I attempt to install the Core Tables I come back with the following message....

If for some reason the link of the image above goes out the error message I am finding is....

The exact error message that your MySQL server reported is:
MySQL Error # 4 = Specified key was too long; max key length is 1000 bytes

Well I actually attempted to install the others and all of the others one went great with no problem at all first try. (The screenshoot is taken after I refreshed the pages but I checked mySQL and they are in there all but the core.

Note: This next step in this might be totally wrong :Note

I thought I would actually try and manually install the SQL database so I logged into mySQLAdmin and when I uploaded the rn_core SQL file I was stuck with the following message.....

Which reads.... "

SQL query:

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $prefix.`_authors` ;

MySQL said: Documentation
#1142 - DROP command denied to user '***DatabaseUsername***'@'***IPAddress****' for table '_authors'

Note: *** = Censored Razz

After clicking the ? on the following page I look and find exactly what that error code reads and says the following....

Which reads...

Error: 1142 SQLSTATE: 42000 (ER_TABLEACCESS_DENIED_ERROR)

Message: %s command denied to user '%s'@'%s' for table '%s'

And from this step im pretty stumped pretty bad. Any help is appricated very much and again thank you for RN trust me im very excited about getting it setup and im glad I planned to setup this site 2 months before needed Razz

Note: I love your hosting and am going to prolly invest some space in yours but currently im using some space on my friends server farm Razz

When your installing raven nuke u will run in to few problems. U have already ran in to the 1st one and then it will be the invalid session in the forums and the other one will be shortlinks. All of those problems are already answered in this forum do a search Very Happy

Ahh well thank you very much I actually did a good 10 searches but since im not to use to this i think the keywords I was using to search them prolly werent the best for finding the results in which you showed me. Thanks! Smile

fresh - The majority of users have no issues installing RavenNuke so to say that users *will* run into a few problems is not completely accurate.
Unfortunately The Team does not have access to every possible server configuration possible or PHP version / mySQL version but we do test with what we have access to and what we specify within the documentation.

amishllama - Regarding the sql problem, I think this was covered in another post but cannot locate it at the moment and if I remember correctly was related to the mysql character set (the affected table I think was for nukeFEED).
You could try clicking on the nukeFEED icon in the nuke admin area as there is a built in table installer if it detects the tables do not exist already.

The sessions problem. I don't know what to say, apart from the right cookies settings, clearing the session table, you browsers cookies and cache have never failed to work in the past but if you have done all that then we need to look at it further. If it works for you in one browser and not another it would seem to indicate a browser cache problem.

The reason you could not use the sql in phpMyAdmin is because you copied it from the installer files.
$prefix.`_authors` is invalid as phpMyAdmin does not know what value $prefix is.
The correct useage should be `nuke_authors` (with a back tick at each end).

I got it all fixed up now.

To fix the problems I used the two following methods:

1. Changed a variable of 255 to 150 in one line each in the following files
/INSTALLATION/rn_core.sql
/INSTALLATION/rndb_upgrade.php

More specific info at the link given to me by user Fresh gave to me (http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postp115144.html#115144)

2. Changed it so MySql will collation my database using latin1_swedish_ci instead of utf8

This info was found also on the say page just listed

Guardian>> yeah i shouldn't have use few problems. I think it happens because of lack of knowledge when it come to stuffs like these. Ppl who know these stuff will figure it out by their self but unfortunately it was not like installing phpnuke. But then i like raven nuke more than phpnuke plus the ravennuke's forums are great. I got answers very quickly from other users like u. And i am still waiting on that photo album LOL
