Ftp issues tags automatically changed

Maybe its nothing special but that was the first time I ever had an issue with LeechFTP.
I´m using this program since years and its my favorite but suddenly something changed.
Behavior like a virus nearly every file I uploaded was changed. The opening tag removed or several << added.
< within the theme < in blocks < modules and in the < administration < just everywhere. Shocked

Because I did´t know the reason first I downloaded the files, repaired every of the changed files and transfered the stuff again.
< Really a nightmare.
I still love LeechFTP but I don´t use my version anymore . I just don´t have the time to repair every file killing me

But it's really a great pity that the author never released a new version of his program.

No, I did´t changed the automatic transfer modus.
But I got several times a message like upload not allowed and afterthat the file was transfered.
However, there are enough commercial and free FTP programs available.
