I dont know how to use the Downloads module. Here's what happened. My website is [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] I uploaded the file into the downloads module folder. The file is a .rar file called meeting_7-15-06. The path I set the link to in the downolads module was [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

What did I do wrong?

The standard downloads module assumes that the file is on the server (or somewhere else, accessible by a URL). It does not automatically identify downloads, regardless of where they are located.

When you add a download (or someone submits one), you must specify the URL where the file is located. In this case, you might use /modules/downloads/meeting_7-15-06.rar. That gets stored in the database in the downloads table. Make sense?

Not really. I'm a complete noob at this. So what you are saying is that in the URL spot I should type "/modules/downloads/meeting_7-15-06.rar"?

Yes, but either leave out the first / or put the full url. Test it to make sure...

Nothing I do seems to work. Personally, I would rather have a mod where I could upload the files rather than input a path for them. I found one, but I need to change $uppath and I dont know what that is and it doesnt give good instructions on it.

I'm guessing it wants the actual full server path, something you can get from your host or using phpinfo()

You might also try NSN Group Downloads, which can be configured to allow you to upload files when you create the download. Just be careful about allowing others to upload files...
