Hi All!

I moved my RN 7.6 installation from one server to another, after which the security code image is no longer being displayed anywhere. Apparently something when wrong with the move.

I did a tar dump of the DocumentRoot on the new system and move it to my local machine. Here the image is displayed correctly. So, the logical explanation is a difference between the servers. I found a post with a code snippet to create a test image. This displays:

GD Is Enabled. What now?

The code_bg image exists in the places other posts have said:

./images/admin/code_bg.jpg
./images/code_bg.jpg
./modules/Forums/images/code_bg.jpg

Permissions are 644. I remember reading a post that said these were supposed to be PNG ( I think). However, the test machine also has JPG files.

In the config.php the code is activated:
$gfx_chk = 7;

I have tried it with both Konqueror and Firefox on Linux, and Internet Explorer on Windows.

Any clues as to where to look next? Any ideas are greatly appreaciated.

Regards,

jimmo

Hi Hitwalker!

Thanks for the reply. The site is [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] I seem to have gotten it working, but I am not 100% sure why. The how part was that I found a few posts that said to make sure there were no empty lines at the end of the mainfile.php and modules.php files. These two files were ok. However, that got me thinking about the possibility that there was another files with an empty line.

What I had done on the live machine was to move my config.php up above the DocumentRoot and created another config.php that includes ../config.php. The "real" config.php was fine, but the one in the DocumentRoot had a blank line at the end. I removed the line and the image re-appeared.

So, now I know what was causing the problem. I am still unclear as to why. I could imagine since the blank line is outside of the PHP code, the server sees it simply as HTML and outputs it without further processing or there is some other part of the process that does the same. Therefore, the blank line gets inserted somewhere where it doesn't belong and "messes things up". However, at this point, I am simply guessing and would appeaciate any additional info.

Thanks & Regards,

jimmo
