It was brought to my attention that the SiteInfo block that I have made available for nuke 6.5 was not attaching the label (Site Admin) to the user name anymore in the Who's Online section. I have corrected the SiteInfo download and you will need to replace it with the one you are using to get the functionality.

Register and Activate Users With No Email Message! More about

by gcf

I have a hack that I just put together for this. For anyone wanting to have a site where the user is automatically registered and activated, this will do it! It is a very small hack that is simple to install. Get it from the downloads section in Modules.

I have left it up to the admins to modify the _YOUWILLRECEIVE message that is in the language files folder. Or, seacrh for _YOUWILLRECEIVE in Your_Account/index.php and just mask it out.

Nuke (v6.5) News Module Mod - Prioritize/Order Your Articles! More about

Posted on Friday, April 25, 2003 @ 20:26:16 CDT in Modules
by gcf

This modification/hack allows you to promote/order one news article above another. The default behavior of the Nuke News module is to always put the most recent news item at the top of the chain. With this modification you can alter that behavior. Get it in the download area - free download. It is still considered experimental, but I have tested it pretty thoroughly. Download it here. Please post all bug reports here. Do not post bug reports in the comments of this article. I will not respond to them - sorry.

[UPDATED 4/29/2003]I have replaced the download with a modified nuke/html/admin/modules/stories.php file. That is the only file that has changed. If you downloaded before 18:25 hours on 4/29/2003, please redownload and you should be able to restore the default NULL values now.

KISGB v5.1.0 Progress More about

Posted on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 @ 22:32:09 CDT in Guest Book
by gcf

Work is progressing nicely on the v5.1.0 release of KISGB! Here is a list, so far, of the changes/enhancements. All of these changes are presently loaded to the standard public version of KISGB here.
  • Added logic to allow quoting of another message when posting a new message. Seems to work ok but it will probably be released as Experimental and the Admin will be able to turn it off (of course!)
  • Added code to always set error_reporting to E_ALL&~E_WARNING. Modified several scripts to make sure that the config.php include is the first statement. That way the error_reporting setting will always be in effect.
  • Added a new analyzer utility called syschk.php. This script will analyze your KISGB installation and determine if there are any problems with the configuration of KISGB and PHP. This utility should not be left installed! To do so will open your system to hacking attempts!!
  • The setting $use_footer was not functioning correctly. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to remove the footer unless prior permission has been received from ME!!! It is a requirement of the license.
  • Version 4.3.2RC of PHP was causing the updategb.php module to mess up the guestbook. Very ugly! Actually argued with the PHP developer crew to no avail. I modified my code to fix their problem, imo.
I have started the incorporation of BBCODE to KISGB and am almost completed with adding the functionality to allow moderating of posts before accepting them :)

KISGB Analyzer and System Check Utility More about Read More...

by gcf

[NOTE 4/19/2003: I have updated this to include a check for the error reporting level issue that causes so many unwanted Notice messages in the Apache error_log and on the screen. If you have already downloaded the first file, please redownload to have the current one.]

I have made available a utility (syschk.zip) that will analyze your KISGB setup and provide you with valuable diagnostic information to help you (and me) set up and/or debug KISGB and your PHP system. It is very powerful and revealing and should not be left lying around your system!!! You should run this immediately after installing KISGB for an analysis. Please let me know your comments and enhancement requests if they are needed. Read on for more details. Read More...
