Microformats and Microdata

Anyone have any thought or preferences regarding Microformats vs Microdata. Google has recommended microdata but I find it's syntax to be clunky and it also requires more markup than Microformats.

Microformats2 is my favorite at current which uses a css class based approach. [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

This is the closest fit for News/Blog type entries (Microformats2): [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

I prefer microformats (the original spec) for the same reason; it's not as clunky to use as microdata BUT I do tend to use whatever Google recommends and can validate as meaningful data since Google is by far the most popular search engine.
I've use hCard and hReview in the past and I think I used microdata on my sites nukeNAV menu.

The only thing that would really concern me is microformat2 - if this is a "draft" specification, it might change and make the markup useless.
