I'm confused again... and a forum search seems only to give me pre-RN information... saying register globals should be off.

Would someone please enlighten me on the requirements of register globals. It should be off in the php.ini file but will Sentinel work?

Well, it is probably good practice to keep register globals turned off at the php.ini level. RN will work just fine this way, however, I want you to know that just because RN works just fine, it is possible that other scripts will not (especially if they do not integrate fully into nuke through mainfile.php). If your server is set up right, you could override this setting through .htaccess under the directories where you have scripts which fall into this category.

NukeSentinel WILL work, but you are forced to use CGIAuth is all.

Thanks M.
So... if I have php running as an Apache module and register globals is set to off in php.ini then I must set up Sentinel CGIAuth if I wish to use admin auth ???

Clear as mud??

Yes, I believe that that is a true statement.

To make this perfectly clear for myself ...
sentinel's CGIAuth is only a word and not a reference to running php as a cgi module?

setting up sentinel's CGIAuth is not referenced to running php as a cgi module?

iow, CGIAuth a word/function and not a relationship.

And ... if I was running php as a cgi module, then I would use sentinel httpAuth?

Any chance of creating a table with the php variations as columns and the settings rows?

Maybe something pictorial would be easier to remember.

ta again

If i turn off register globals in php.ini and turn off admin auth in sentinel ... login is impossible and all links in the modules block result in "this module is not active..."

Then, in .htaccess, I wrote this:
php_flag register_globals On

and all the links and logins came back again.

So, I'm confused again.

I am running with register globals off on all three of my RN2.10 sites so I know it works. You may need Raven's advice here as I just cannot think of how that is not working unless you really are not using RN (which I doubt).
