That worked in the previous nuke versions the same way.It isn´t new.
Quess you know that very well because you had an older version installed.
I´don´t believe that there are changes required but we´ll see what Ravens opinon is about that.

Well, I do not use the news module on my site, so I didnt even bother to check if was wrong also before.
The function to check if an e-mail address validity is present on reccomend-us module, so i guess it's not hard work to correct also the news module.
Just my 2 cents.
