I've done some searching in here, and I can't seem to find a "recommended settings" for Nuke Sentinel within the "Administration" menu. Can anyone share their most effective settings? I'm new to Nuke Sentinel in general, so I thought a thread concerning this subject would be helpful to others as well. Here's the list of what I have now, and what they're set to:

General Settings

Show Right Blocks: No
Test Switch: Yes
NukeSentinel(tm) Status: Enabled
Site Switch: Site Enabled
Default Page: Site Reason
Help System Type: On Image Click
IP Lookup Site: DNS Stuff
Force Nuke URL: No
Page Delay:(in seconds): 2
Flood Delay:(in seconds): 5
Display Link: All Visitors
Display Reason: All Visitors
Block Proxies: Off
Default Page: Admin
AutoClear Blocks: Off
Santy Worm Protection: On
DOS Protection: Off

Administrative Settings

Admin Auth: Off
htaccess Path: (This is blank)
staccess Path: (This is blank)
ftaccess Path: (This is blank)
Dump Directory: cache/
Crypt Salt: N$
Admin Contacts:******@gmail.com

IP Tracker Settings

IP Tracking: On
Maximum Days: 7

Blocked IP Page Settings

IPs per page: 50
Sort Column: Date
Sort Direction: Descending

Tracked IP Page Settings

IPs per page: 50
Sort Column: Date
Sort Direction: Descending

Thanks Kindly,

The author of NukeSentinel, I am pretty sure, chose these default settings to reflect the needs of most users. What I would do is experiment with changing any of them individually if you think it is needed and then see what effect it has. I would do this one at a time to avoid interactions. The Administrative Settings choice is covered pretty well in the HowToInstall manual and you might want to reread that section. You can get extra protection for your admin pages at some cost in convenience and ease of use. If there is only one admin who knows what he or she is doing, the cost is minimal. If you spread administrative tasks over a group of people, some of whom are not really dedicated, the extra sign on that results can be a hassle.

Are you sure you will show this to all visitors? Think about it. Doesn´t make sense.
Activate Http auth to have additional protection.

I don't have a "HowToInstall" manual. Not even in the folders of version 2.601. Any links to this? Thanks! Very Happy

Bots will recognize the links in your block banned IPs because its set to show to all visitors. For example sites like MC Afee´s Siteadvisior will show these links on your website not as green links. This is only one example. Set it better to show only to registered members or admin.

The HowToInstall comes with RavenNuke, but can also be viewed here: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Unless your testing on a localhost, Test Switch should be set to No. Also, I always set DOS Protection to On.

Just my 2cents...
