Hey all,

I am a bit confused on which version I should install. I am currently running 7.8 PL 3.2 but I want to downgrade. Do I DG to PHP-Nuke 7.6 pl3.1 or Ravens v 7.6 v2.0.20?

TIA,
Maddog

Welcome Maddog! There are actually a few threads here on "downgrading" and I believe one or two of them even have the steps listed out by Raven and others. You will want to get to the latest RN76 release, which is currently 2.02.02 so that your future upgrades are a "snap". Do a search for those threads and give those a "go" first. Feel free to post back, either in those threads, this one, or a new one if you run into any issues.

One more question. I use subBlack Theme, should I grab the latest one from nukemods.com or is there one in Ravens package? I am at work right now so i cannot check.

Thanks,

I do not believe that is in the distro. I would simply get a good copy of it and load it into the new themes folder once you are done with the change. As montego said, welcome and let us know if you run into any trouble.

Downgraded from 7.8 to 7.6 and got the following:
Operation Status!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner_clients failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_banner failed
- DROP TABLE nuke_banner_positions failed
- DROP TABLE nuke_banner_terms failed
- DROP TABLE nuke_banner_plans failed
- ALTER TABLE nuke_modules failed

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Operation Complete!
You MUST upload the PHP-Nuke 7.6 files to your server for the downgrade to be complete.

I uploaded the Raven 7.6 v 2.02.02 via cPanel and it seemed to work. The site is up but the Nuke Sentinel admin page is blank. How do I fix that? Do I need to do anything after downgrading? Run any kind of install or anything like that?

Thanks,
MD

well, did you run the installation file as you were supposed to?

you were supposed to install the sentinel tables, the nsn groups tables, and the ip to country tables NOT the regual core tables. Did you do all of this? Please let us know

No. As I stated above all I did was the downgrade. I wuz simply asking if I needed to run through the install now as if I never had 7.8 on the server?

Thanks for the info,
MD

Based on the sequence of events posted so far, I do believe you need to run installSQL.php BUT do NOT run Step 1 of the database installation! Start with Step 2, the NSN Groups installation followed by the NukeSentinel IP table loads.

Let me repeat, you already have a working 7.6 nuke version that you have downgrade to so start at Step 2 (skip step 1 of the SQL installation).

How do I get around this in the Core Tables install script?

ERROR! The exact error message that your MySQL server reported is You have an error in your SQL syntax near '; ' at line 1.

I still get that Error message I posted above.

I said to SKIP that step! Let me ask you this. Do you really have alot of content already invested in this or could you start from scratch with a fresh RavenNuke76 install?

I say this because it might just be easier to drop your database and re-create it and then run through the installation instructions fresh, but if you have alot of content, users, etc. from your 7.8 installation, then that would not be an option.

ok,

Looks like I screwed up the DB. I backed it up from the cPanel prior to running the installation script but I am not sure how to get it back onto the server. Any ideas? I suppose I could restore it somehow. I have all the tables with extensions like .MYD, .MYI and .frm I also have a MySQL installation at home if there is a way to get all those files back into the db and create a SQL text file to import back in I can do that. Doh!

I hate it when that happens!

well if i had to do this...i would back up the old database...wipe it clean...then make a new database...export the new one and compare the old one to the new one and merge the 2 to work properly...then id wipe the database and upload the merged database structure...now i know this sounds complicted but i would be willing to help in any way and this is somethin that sounds worse then it really is...but post the 2 files and id be happy to merge the 2 for u...ill test it and then give it back to u...but remember to remove all personal info out of ur post.. for instant...dont even post the part where is says nuke_authors...as this will show things u would not want anyone knowing.

if you would like I could help you. I would need you to email me the ftp info, cpanel link, site link, Site God admin info and have the backup of your db from before all of this ftp'd to the server so that I could get it. Otherwise, montego and dark have great ideas to get it fixed

Thanks you guys! One thing's for sure, those bastards that were adding countless users to my Nuke install are truly thwarted at this point! LOL! I am not worried here, I have gone through this a few times with upgrades and such so I know it's possible to get everything back, I am just not familiar enough with MySQL to set up a db with the backup I have and then export it to a text file and then upload it back to MySQL.

Any help is appreciated and if there is anything I can do in return just let me know.

Well,

Looks like this one is handled. The webhost restored my db from the backup I took so all is fine. I am starting the installation again, from step 2 this time!

Thanks,
Don

OK,

Had to restore the db from a couple of days ago. Can't seem to get the right side blocks to show up on my site. It may be a pre sentinel so I tried modding the themes.php file back to the if (defined index == 1) but no luck. I cannot seem to get the downgrade script nor anything in the main window for that matter to run.

Would it be a good idea to scrap everything in the root and reupload 7.8 so I can downgrade and then upload the latest Raven Package and run the install?

Thanks,
MD

I think it might be a good idea to take jaded up on her offer. You are moving too fast for me to keep up. I only get a few minutes each day to follow up on posts.
