ALTER AND DROP nuke_bbconfig Field

hi guys well i a litlle stuck ,
let me explain ok i making up some upgrade scripts for my v3 > v4 but i need to alter and drop i tried 5 different ways but cant seem to get it right.

here the original code from v3

INSERT INTO nuke_bbconfig VALUES ('max_smilies', '10');

now i need to drop it

i have tried alter and drop, alter , where value and drop

how should i write it....

just tring to make the upgrade clean as possible

i have the reference chm doc but cant seem to find a function that does it,
strange these phpbb mods install but dont want to uninstall

do i need to drop the whole nuke_bbconfig to do this ?

DELETE FROM nuke_bbconfig WHERE config_name='max_smilies';
