I just added a new moderator to my site for the first time since upgrading Sentinel to 2.13.
I set passwords in all areas, including my "secret file", but when I try to go into Sentinel and put this mod on the protected list it does not come back saved. She is having trouble accessing the admin portion of the site, and often getting a page that says "Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required." and I think the two might be related.
I have evidently missed something I should have done, or missed something during my update.
Any suggestions?

Geez--is it my breath? Am I not clear on what is happening here, coz I kinda gave the condensed version, which I see really doesn't have alot of info. I've read everything I could find, tried all I know to try, and fear doing more damage than good.
I'm leaning toward the breath thing since the last time I posted a problem here I did not get any answer really.
Do I need to just skulk away??

I don't know what to tell you to do either Razz
It sounds like the new admin saved ok when you added them to nuke.
It sounds like sometimes the window pops up and she logs in fine??

But other times there is a problem with the access to the admin areas after logging in? (If this is the case I'd say its a cookie thing and to have them clear there browser cache and try again).

Sorry just trying to understand where the problem actually begins.

I thought cookies also. I had her dump them, but no good.
It worked until I changed the password for her, but did not realize that till this morning.
I can't figure out why scanning new admin picks her up, but won't allow anything to be saved for her--but then none of them do, they are riding on the old app I think. This is why I hate new stuff, much as I like it too.
I don't do change well.
Did I mention I still beat my clothes on a rock?

For the sake of testing it try puttin in the file a password that is known to you that works like password crypted with your salt from the sentinel config using Ravens form to crypt the password password.
Ravens form save as crypt.php or what ever and run in a hidden location on your web space.
Code:

<form method='post'>
Enter password to be encrypted using crypt(): <input name='pw'><br /><br />
Enter the 'salt' value for the encryption (2 long): <input name='salt' maxlength='2'><br /><br />
<input type='submit' name='submit' value='Encrypt'><br /><br />
<?
if (isset($_POST['submit'])&&isset($_POST['pw'])&&!empty($_POST['pw'])) {
   echo "Password <b>".$_POST['pw']."</b> translated is <b>".crypt($_POST['pw'],$_POST['salt'])."</b>";
}
?>

I've done this. I've tried to log in with her password as well, no good.
I should add that this is the only way I have to encrypt a password. None of the stuff that is in the 2.03 update works from the control panel for me as far as setting admin passwords etc..
I think I must have botched something during update.
