I'd create a new empty database and install the backup to that if it succeeds change your nuke config.php to point to the new DB. This leaves the original just in case so to speak.

Raven, I have my tables back-up from this morning. My host installed a back-up from July 31st. How do I overwrite the sql that shows my members, my forum posts and my news stories?, then how do I do it? Do I just cut and paste those areas and hit "go"?

As I posted in that link above
Quote:
When you are in phpMyAdmin, you can DROP selected tables. Once they are DROPPED, you can run your SQL to recreate them.
Because there is so much interdepndencies to match up, you really should do what Six advises. Creat a brand new database with your backup SQL. Then point your config to the new database and work out the kinks.

The problem I am having is I am not sure where to find this file at. I did a full site backup and there are a bunch of folders and I am not sure what it is called or what folder it might be under. I use Cpanel and generated the back up from there.

Your cPanel should have an automatic restore. See this [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]
