I have been trying for two days to get this Flam-Player to work. I followed the installation instructions and the instructions for setting up the block and module index.php file that came with the 1.5 vers.
I am running ravenume 2.40.01. I have tried editing the directory location to get it to work. I have an mp3 player in my site by rottenaudio, but it is featureless and basic. I would like to be able to create playlist and such, but nothing I found so far works. That being said, this is what I have done so far:
I put all the folders under the main directory in my root folder ie: /html/Flash as the instructions say. I edited the files that I was told to edit ie: fp_settings_1.php, index.php, and the block-flam.php.
I have been able to access the admin panel for the Flame Mp3 player, but I am unable to get the block to show any music that is showing up under the admin section. I am sure it is something that I am overlooking, if anyone could help, that would be great. I am tired of beating my head against the monitor...lol.

Flam player is pretty old. What exactly are you looking for in a multimedia module? What kind of features and what kind of files are you looking to put on your site?

I have used this flash player in the past and it worked well. I have not tested it in a year or so...

I am looking to be able to have play-list, album art, and maybe even folders if that can be done. I just want to be able to put music into different list so that when they are displayed, they can click on the folder or album and open it for that music selection. Play-list would work, but I want to set the play-list up so the music isn't all spread out.

It would be nice, but not necessary, if it would play videos and other formats besides just .mp3 files.

I am willing to pay, if it isn't expensive and it is what I am looking for. I currently have RottnAudio on my site, but it is so basic. You can see the name of the song, the artist, and album art if you put it in, but you can't separate it or anything. Pretty featureless and I repeat, basic.

I've been happy with wimpy rave, but not sure what you consider expensive.. ($49)
I believe it has every feature you mentioned plus some, and is pretty easy to use/skin Smile [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

That looks interesting, but how to you put it in ravenuke? I am not all that experienced with websites...going to college right now to actually gain knowledge that I don't currently have.

The price tag is a little high, but if it works I might be able to use it. Flame is something that I would use if I could get it to work, but I don't know how. Free is always good to me, but if I can get one working right that has what I am looking for, I would use that.

Thanks for showing me that...I downloaded the demo, but it is strange how it is set up.

Thanks for your help, I have installed the wimpy player into my website, but I can't figure out how to add songs. Still looking, has something to do with xml files. No knowledge in that area as of yet.

you only need the xml files for playlists (i think.. it's been awhile), you can upload music (or folders of music) into the directory rave.php and rave.js are located in, and it will play them in alphabetical or random order depending on your settings. The playlists are a little complicated and I've never really messed with them, i usually just rotate a handful of songs in the main music directory then keep folders of other music users can select if they choose.

One other note make sure the audio files are mp3 as several formats like wma are not supported and might crash the player.

The thing I like about Flame player and Rottnaudio is that you just have to fill out the fields in a window, not open a file and put all the information in. Flame player you don't have to edit (ie: the_mp3_file it could just be the mp3 file) the file name to make it work with the mp3 player, or at least it showed all my music in the player...I just couldn't get the block or pop-up to show the music. I purchased wimpy, but for that price, it should have an easier interface to work with and upload music with.

I have to admit I've used wimpy player for years and the copy I'm using is fairly old. took a quick look at the new version and looks like much has changed ..

I'm sure it's still a good product, but I won't be much help until i can get around to upgrading... as some of what you are saying sounds foreign to me Rolling Eyes

no promises but I'll try to find some time in the next few days, and offer any insight I might have..

I would appreciate it. It would be a good product if it was setup to handle files better.
I appreciate you taking the time to help. I will keep fiddling with it and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for the help.

Maybe if you turn error reporting on in config.php and see if any errors are generated we can help a bit more getting Flam Player to work. I used Flam Player myself for a while and I cannot think of any reason why it should not work with later versions of RN BUT if you can give me a link I'm happy to check it out for you as I still have the mp3's sat on my server from when I last used it.

Not wanting to hijack the thread but if anyone knows of a working ShoutCast Radio block with a pop-up player, please drop me a PM.
