UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1 conflict > Firefox replaces accents

Hello,

My RavenNuke powered Website uses UTF-8. I made the changes in the CMS language folder:

All the Website is displaying accented characters perfectly, exepted a script that process a search for external feeds.

The problem is only with Firefox. Each accented character is replaced by

symbol.

There must be a conflict between my parameters (UTF-8) and the text the module sends (ISO-8859-1). No problem with Internet Explorer, but awful result with Firefox.

The soultion could be to force the module to send UTF-8. But how?

No, unfortunately, I didn't. I think it is possible to do this with an external file (for example, a .inc file), but I don't have the skills to do this.

Make sure when you view the source code that the header information is showing utf-8
You may also need to convert you DB data and make sure the DB is using utf-8.

I don't think thats your problem though as you said you only have the problem with one script which pulls an external feed.
You may need to check the file(s) relating to that script to see if it is using a DTD or some other mechanism which tells the browser how to handle the feed data - it could be that the script is saying to use a different character encoding (though they should be using utf- Cool

One other thing to check is the originating site to make sure the site data is in utf-8 - it shouldn't really matter because they should be using utf-8 on the feed output but remember, not all feeds are valid so it would be worth validating the feed with one of the many free online RSS or XML feeds validators.
