Hi all, forgive me if this topic as come up before. But I would like to run an audit on the private messaging system on the site. I have a lot of members and want to make sure nothing untowards is being sent. Making sure people are using the feature responsibly.

Hmm interesting. What do you think is going on?

I think you have to be careful because of privacy laws. I know in the UK the Data Protection Act may apply.

Any way back to your query, I don't think I have ever seen anything like this. Of course you can check it through phpmyadmin.

There is an addon I've seen that will allow admins to view all PMs in phpBB2. I don't know whether it is ported to work with phpNuke

If people use a tool like this I think they should make it clear to users when they sign up that their PM's may be monitored.

I agree with that. If you cannot trust your site members then delete them or remove the PM facility.

I intend to make it quite clear that PM's will be monitored at random. In fact I will include it in privacy statement I have on the site.

The reason I am interested in knowing what's going on, just so nothing untoward is going on (dodgy advertising/sales.... etc etc). Obviously it doesn't take much to set up an account on a Nuke PHP site and I do screen the new members, however I don't personally know these people and there is a level of trust... who knows what goes on in PM? I'm not interested in the legitimate members banter.

I guess I'll just have to view via the database.
