is anyone interested to rename a module? Easy task! There is one thing i like to know does renaming the module causess Vulnerabilities? Renaming the module but the DB table name remain intact that is what i had in mind.

I guess it depends on the module and what it does.
If your intention is to have two modules doing exactly the same thing but with a different name then you may have to rename all the functions etc as it will cause an error if the same function is called twice.

there is only one module to rename i am not working on 2 mondule to work it at the same time no Very Happy

Can you not just use a custom title in the module admin area?
Any way, it shouldn't be too hard...
Change the main folder name to what you need, check the module index file for
Code:


$module_name = 'MODULE_NAME';
and change that to whatever you are now calling your module, then search all the module files for hard coded references to the original module name and replace them.
Failing that, for a beer zip up the module and PM me a link where I can download it and I'll take a crack at it for you.

if the module is renamed without renaming the table DB name what is going to happen? are there any Vulnerability which i shld take note of? Some advise thanks Embarassed

redhairz, I am sorry to ask again, but I never saw an answer to Guardian's question. I guess trying to understand why the need for renaming as apposed to just giving the module a custom lable within the modules administration? I think understanding the "what" and "why" might help us to provide better direction.
