Hi everyone,

First time poster so please be gentle Wink

I've was recently asked to take control of a PhP-Nuke site that has had past hacker problems and need some help, if possible to install Nuke Sentinel 2.5.16. I upgraded PhP-Nuke to v8.1.0.3.4a patched (Wish it was RavenNuke) in advance and then tried to make sense of the first time install instructions.

I think I got close to getting it running but ran into this error post-install trying to access the site afterwards:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /**path edited by admin**/mainfile.php on line 175

I had installed Nuke Sentinel which created the database and tables without error, the module becoming visible from the Admin panel. I then edited the 3 core files (Admin.php, Header.php & Mainfile.php) and transferred them over but none of the code from Index8.1.txt I was asked to edit in Index.php was found (No email on our site, just PMs) so nothing in that file was altered. Problem is there maybe??

Admin.php, Header.php & Mainfile.php was then transferred to our site followed last by the .ftaccess, .htaccess & .staccess with 666 settings into the same directory level as the php files. I believe that was the last step so I tried to access the site, getting the error in mainfile.php.

I had to revert to a site backup to get running again so I'd very much appreciate any advice that could get help me solve the problem so I can get Nuke Sentinel functioning.

Thanks in advance.

The error message seems to indicate that the mainfile.php edit was done incorrectly - unexpected '}'
I don't and won't use anything other than RavenNuke so I don't have a pre-edited mainfile.php to send you sorry.

php-rookie, although this looks like it may have been running on your local PC or server, I edited out your path details in your post. We don't need that and it exposes you to risks that you do not need... Wink

Hi there,

As a precaution I altered the path names before posting but thanks for stepping in.

I redid the mainfile.php instructions for PhP-Nuke 8.1 in case it was an ommission on my part and I got the same error so I reverted to a backup until I can find a solution. Had this been a new site I would have gone straight to RavenNuke but sadly I'm trying to pick up where someone left off.

What about the index.php edits? I couldn't find and of the required changes it asked. Email is diabled on our site so maybe that's why the code wasn't there? Does it need to be added perhaps? I really don't know how to proceed but Sentinel did install correctly and the module plugged into the Admin cpanel so I'm sure it's something small that's causing the error.

I very much want to get Sentinel running after reading so many good things about it so as I said, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.
