My brother's site is a gaming site (World of Warcraft) however, we never categorized it nor did we submit it for search engines for fear that this would happen.

Well, it happened anyway and now, he can't access his site in Iraq behind military servers. Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this or, are we SOL?

Thanks....

The people that control your brother's internet access have blocked your site from your brother. He'll have to talk to them.

There are similar controls at where I work. They block what they think are offensive sites. They aren't always correct about that, and you just have to ask them nicely to remove the site from their list. Good luck.

That is what I thought. Seeing as it is the Army, I doubt they will "take the site off their list". However, I will forward this to him and hope that they will un-filter his site from him.

I just want to make sure that it was not a "filtering" issue within the site itself nor his machine's setup options. Thanks!

Let's face it, the military probably runs their own content filters. I doubt its a true blacklist, rather it searches the site for known gaming terminology and blocks it actively. The only choice to bypass is a proxy server then (if they don't block those too Smile )

Yeah I am sure they just pick up on keywords and use some kind of heuristic to flag sites. For example, I can no longer read shacknews.com at work as they think it is an illegal gambling/gaming site. In reality it is just a news site about video/computer games.
