I am having an issue when creating a new story with the NEWS module.

For the first time i am adding a link to a especific url within the news story so people reading that can click on the url and be re-directed to that site.

The problem is when i post the news i notice that the url address is being changed and a "../" is added to the begining of the url so the url does not work.

For instance i've created a news with the following url [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] but when people see this on my NEWS and click on this link they go to [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

So basically the modules is adding my site URL to that i have placed into the news story and i am assuming is the ../ the module is adding to the HTML code.

How can i solve this isue?

Sounds like the poorly integrated tiny_mce editor is up to its tricks again. Unfortunately I refuse to use anything above 7.6 so I'm afraid I cannot help you much.

Are you using the WYSIWYG editor? Have you tried disabling it?

I've seen this happen to me when I forget to put the [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] on the front of the link. Your browser then tries to find [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] Just throwing that out....are you sure you got the [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] on your links?

Yes i did add the HTTP part but still when i update the text and post the editor adds "../" in front of it.

Is this really because of WYSIWYG editor? If this is really the problem how do i disable it?

I gave up on that thing after about 1 week. In your config.php, look for something like $nuke_editor = true; Set it to false or 0.

See what that does.

What is weird is that on the Admin cpanel prefferences for instance there are 3 footer texts that uses the same kind of editor and there the links works OK.

By the way, i just checked my config.php and that's what i have there

$advanced_editor = 0;

EDIT: I just two more tests:

1 - I added the same html code into a Journal entry
2 - I added the same html code into the footer field on my admin preferences

Both works OK and the links don't get messed up. The only place where this is happening is on the NEWS/Story where this ../ is being added in front of the link when i save it.

By the way my version is 7.8 patched 3.2
