Cigar Savvy Module - Possible?

My apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum.

I would like to see about creating a module for a cigar forum. I have never done this, but before I begin or seek out documentation on coding I would like to know how likely this would be to create.

I would like to create a module that can be user dependent, whereas a member can access the module and select from a series of pictures with description (database listing of some sort perhaps) showing all cigars. These radial buttons or check boxes would be checked, and they would click update. These icons would then be attached to their profile identifying those cigars they have "experienced".

The information woud need to be able to be updated by each user, for their own profile. When viewing their profile, or clicking a button within a post of theirs (like the MSN button) you would be taken to a page displaying a graphical view, with icons, of those cigars they have had...or even better would be a graphical view, plus listing.

To take this a step further, perhaps multiple databases, one for smoked/experienced, one for "wish list" and one for "Please don't ever send me one of these".

Can this be done? Thanks for any help or suggestions on where to look next.

Of course it can be done. Unless you need the other features of phpNuke, you might want to just go with a stand alone forum and develop an addon. But either way it's certainly possible. If you are not familiar with PHP and MySQL, then you will have problems. You might want to hire someone to do it. Otherwise get yourself a good book on each.
